Illinois corn 74%, soybeans 68% good-to-excellent to end July

Illinois crop conditions improved last week, ending July rated better than this time last year.

The USDA reports as of Sunday Illinois corn is rated 74% good to excellent, up three percentage points on the week and six points on the year. 91% of the crop is silking with 31% in the dough stage.

Soybeans are rated 68% good to excellent, up 7 percentage points on the week and 1 point on the year. 76% of the crop is blooming with 37% setting pods.

Pasture conditions also improved slightly from the week before at 48% good to excellent but are 11 points below this time last year.
