Arkansas crops: 61% soybeans and 69% rice rated good to excellent

Crop conditions continue to slide as summer continues to heat up.

Soybeans are rated 61% good to excellent, 94% of the crop blooming, and 76% is setting pods.  Cotton is rated 65% good to excellent with 99% squaring and 88% setting bolls. One percent of the bolls are opening.  The rice crop is rated 69% rated good to excellent, 35% of the crop is headed.   Peanuts are rated 75% good to excellent with 97% pegging.  Corn is rated 60% good to excellent, 81% is in the dough stage, 58% is dented; and 10% is mature. 

The second cutting of hay is 77% complete, and just 4% of alfalfa hay is rated good. Vegetables are 44% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture was 61% adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture was 42% adequate to surplus.
