Last Iowa HPAI quarantine lifted
The last remaining quarantine for highly pathogenic avian influenza has been lifted in Iowa.
Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says a commercial turkey farm in Bremer (BRIMMER) County is the latest site to be released from restrictions. Avian flu was confirmed at 19 poultry sites across the state this year, including 15 commercial operations and four backyard flocks.
Naig says this latest milestone allows impacted farmers to turn the page from responding to the outbreak, to repopulating flocks and returning to production.
