Children 7-14 invited to create their own self portraits inspired by famed Italian artist

Amadeo Clemente Modigliani []

Children 7 through 14 and their families are invited to join the Muscatine Art Center on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for a creative workshop to create their own self-portraits inspired by the work of Amadeo Clemente Modigliani.

These portraits will be crafted using pastels.

Amadeo Clemente Modigliani was an Italian painter and sculptor who worked mainly in France. He is known for portraits in a modern style characterized by long faces, necks, and figures that were not popular during his lifetime, but later became much sought-after. He spent his youth in Italy, where he studied the art of antiquity and the Renaissance. In 1906, he moved to Paris, where he met such artists as Pablo Picasso and Constatin Brancusi.

Please register by July 22. Call 563-263-8282 for more information and to sign up.
