Iowa Poultry Association and Chicken and Egg Association of Minnesota merge

The Iowa Poultry Association and Chicken and Egg Association of Minnesota have merged.

Executive director Kevin Stiles says the combined associations will operate as the North Central Poultry Association with headquarters in Urbandale, Iowa.

“The boards thought it made lots of sense (because) our memberships are very similar, there’s a lot of crossover both on the producer side as well as the allied member side between the two states. And of course our issues, our challenges are very similar as well.”

He tells Brownfield those challenges include supply chain disruptions and inflationary pressures.

“Like all farmers and livestock producers in particular, to see the cost of inputs going up, whether it’s cost of feed or the cost of fuel, other building materials, all that has had a significant impact on our farmers and the industry.”

Stiles calls the labor market difficult and says the entire poultry sector is also feeling the effects of this spring’s avian influenza outbreak.
