Feenstra focused on energy title of next farm bill

A member of the House Agriculture Committee wants to strengthen the energy title in the next farm bill.

Iowa Republican Randy Feenstra tells Brownfield there are so many opportunities for biofuel production and use in Title IX.

“Right now to me it’s all about the producer and how would you help that producer, and we can help them by changing and working with the energy (title) by creating greater biofuel production. We can also make sure there’s a safety net there for all farmers.”

He says Congress can provide more regulatory certainty for biofuels in the 2023 Farm bill.

“I think we as a Congress step in and create a better solution, to say this is what we want out of our EPA and sort of reign them in.”

The current farm bill includes an energy title that reauthorized or initiated nearly a dozen programs that promote bio-energy production from agricultural or forestry feedstocks.
