James Albert ‘Jim’ Burr, 65, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in Eliza Township.
Funeral Service will be at 4:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the Rendezvous, 3127 Lucas Street, Muscatine IA. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Muscatine Art Center. Online Condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com
Jim was born on April 10, 1957, in Muscatine, the son of George and Iona Webb Burr. He married Anna Lea Tammenga, December 1979. They later divorced.
He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1975. He was a Muscatine Journal carrier and then worked for 43 years at Monsanto/Bayer.
Jim was a collector of lots, especially Muscatine history. He served on the Board of Trustees for the Muscatine Art Center as President from July 2018 through June 2022. Jim was a member of the Port City Coin Club, Faith United Church of Christ, the Muscatine Heritage Club, Southern Wisconsin chapter of the Antique Truck Historical Society, and The Table of Knowledge Hy-Vee Breakfast Club. He was a friend to many and loved his nieces, nephews, and family. He was a great father and favorite brother.
He is survived by his stepson, David Tammenga; three sisters, Pat (Brian) Mundell, Nancy (Dave) Wangberg, and Barbara (Jon) Muhs; nieces and nephews, Tory, Ashley, Matthew, and Nathan; and many Burr and Webb cousins.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister at birth, Rose Marie Burr.
