Hot pattern to dominate the Plains; seasonal rains for parts of the Corn Belt

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in New England.

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal rainfall is expected from the northern Plains southeastward to the central and southern Atlantic Coast states.  Conversely, drier-than-normal conditions are anticipated from Texas and Oklahoma into the Great Basin, though pockets of above-normal rainfall are expected in the lower Four Corners and Pacific Northwest.
