Axne meets with constituents on farm bill priorities
U.S. Representative Cindy Axne of Iowa says risk management is a top priority for farmers in the 2023 farm bill.
“As we continue to see so many disasters, as we try to keep avian flu from getting any worse here, and obviously keeping (African) swine fever away from our doors here in Iowa,” Axne said.
She tells Brownfield farmers also expressed concern during a recent public listening session about crop insurance.
“Mitigation of risk for folks and how we can ensure that we keep those programs strong,” Axne said. “And that we don’t undermine them in anyway through other policy that could impact our farmers.”
The West Des Moines Democrat says the listening sessions give farmers the chance to give her feedback, while also helping the general public better understand the farm bill.
