Violet ‘Vi’ Tisor McKillip

Violet ‘Vi’ Tisor McKillip, 95, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Lutheran Living.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Island Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Online Condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com

Vi was born on June 10, 1927, in Louisa County, the daughter of Howard and Hazel Reynolds Tisor. She married Robert McKillip on September 8, 1950.

She went to Wapello Schools in 1933 and lived in Louisa County all her life. She rode in horse and wagon to the grocery store and rode in a 1931 car with a rumble seat to the Wapello homecoming. They had wooden stoves for heat and cooking and her and her brothers would saw wood for the stove. Her mother, bless her heart, made homemade bread and fried chicken. Vi was a caregiver for many people helping those in need. She worked for Roy Carver, cooking, cleaning, and caring for his family.

She is survived by his children, Jim McKillip (Donna) Sandy (Ray) Banks, Gail McKillip, Rickey McKillip, Vickie Coulter; stepdaughter, Jeannie (Larry) Brown; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; son, Wes McKillip; stepchildren, Madonna Kircher, Carolyn Biek, Ruthann Beaham, Bobby McKillip, and Karen Staats; and three brothers, Floyd, Morris, and Wilbur Tisor.
