IL corn is planted, soybeans nearly done

Illinois corn planting is wrapped up, soybeans are close to done.

USDA says 96 percent of the state’s corn crop has emerged, four percent behind last year.
Nearly all of Illinois’ soybean crop is planted, ahead of the average. Nearly 90 percent of the crop has emerged, well ahead of average.

Illinois’ winter wheat harvest has begun. Wheat’s condition rating fell to 92 percent fair or better.

Pasture conditions improved last week with most ground in fair or good condition; 57 percent rated good, and 19 percent rated excellent. Topsoil moisture is 85 percent adequate and three percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is 86 percent adequate and five percent surplus.
