Crops looking good in eastern Iowa
An eastern Iowa farmer says he’s happy to be wrapped up with planting this year.
“We had a cold spring,” Lance Lillibridge said. “We weren’t able to get into the field as early as we would want to.”
Lillibridge tells Brownfield his family took advantage of small planting windows in May to get their crops in the ground. “Things are out of the ground, and they are looking good. Now we just need to keep this sunshine with some rain the forecast and hope for a great harvest.”
He says pest control will be one of his biggest priorities this growing season. “Potential for rootworms is getting big. We have to monitor for that and deal with the adult beetles.”
Lillibridge says he faced corn rootworm pressure in 2021.
