Some farmers struggling with parts availability

Southwest Iowa farmer Duane Aistrope says equipment parts can be hard to come by.

“My GPS receiver on my tractor went bad,” Aistrope said. “The local dealership loaned me one because they couldn’t get one. They sent mine up by Ames to someplace where they could work on it and see if it’s fixable.”

He tells Brownfield some farmers in his area have been searching for combine parts.

“That’s why everybody is starting to do it so early so that hopefully by harvest the parts will be available that they need to get their machines up and running,” Aistrope said.

Aistrope says it took over three months to get parts for his combine after it broke down last fall.
