Minnesota Pork CEO David Preisler retires

The retiring CEO of Minnesota Pork says his state has seen tremendous growth since he joined the Association nearly 30 years ago.

David Preisler tells Brownfield pork production has doubled since the late 1990’s.

“It’s just been an incredibly interesting business to work in. Really smart people, good business people, good community people. And that’s really I think been the biggest blessing for me is the ability to work with those folks.”

In the next 30 years, Preisler predicts more farmers taking ownership in packing.

“And it’s not really any different than what happens in some other agricultural industries, whether it’s raising sugarbeets or having shares in an ethanol plant, it’s just kind of a next step. So I think we’re going to see a lot more of that going forward.”

Preisler’s last day was May 31st.

Minnesota Pork director of marketing Lauren Servick tells Brownfield the search committee has moved into a second round of interviews, and current COO Jill Resler has been named interim CEO.
