An unseasonably cool, wet pattern ahead for much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures across the northern half of the U.S., while hotter-than-normal weather will stretch from California to the southern Atlantic Coast.

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal rainfall across most of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal conditions in portions of the upper Great Lakes region and from the southern Rockies to the western Gulf Coast region.
