Behind the Scenes

Stockman Joins Brownfield as News Assistant

Hello everyone! My name is Sophia Stockman and I am excited to be starting my summer as an intern at Brownfield.

I was born and raised in Jefferson City, Missouri. As a fifth-generation cattle farmer, I grew up surrounded by agriculture and all that comes with it. My family owns roughly 400 acres, where we raise Angus beef cattle. After becoming somewhat of a self-proclaimed cowgirl, I began riding horses when I was eight, which furthered my passion for animals and strengthened my love for hard work and getting my hands dirty.

Throughout grade school, high school, and college I rode horses competitively, riding hunt seat, western pleasure, horsemanship, and experimented with jumping; all of which led me to the Varsity Equestrian Team at Missouri State University. When I wasn’t riding, I was singing and acting. I was a four-year member of my high school choir and participated in the school musicals from my sophomore year on. Theater and music inspired a love of performance and public speaking, which continues to this day.

When I am not at the barn or listening to Broadway, I enjoy watching the St. Louis Blues, crocheting, keeping up with Marvel movies, and going on adventures with my yellow lab, Stella.

I am currently pursuing an Animal Science Degree with a minor in Agricultural Communications.

I am thrilled to be a part of the team at Brownfield, and I hope to use my love of agriculture and the people in it to make new connections and I look forward to the experiences the future holds!
