A 66-year-old woman was fatally injured in a single vehicle accident on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in Muscatine.
The Muscatine County Joint Communication Center received a call of a single vehicle accident reported within the 1400 block of Taylor Avenue in Muscatine County at approximately 2:05 p.m., according to the news release from Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office. The caller reported that the vehicle was in the ditch and on fire. The caller also believed the vehicle was still occupied.
Upon law enforcement arrival, a black 2005 Saturn Vue, was fully engulfed. The lone occupant, Jane Johnston, succumbed to injuries at the scene.
The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Wilton Fire Department, Wilton EMS and the Atalissa Fire Department.
