UPL has launched a program to recognize the unsung heroes in the ag industry. Growers, crop advisors, food processors, and distributors are just some of the people who play a crucial role in ensuring food security around the world.

Craig Brekkas, head of UPL North America, says UPL has launched the Allies for Agriculture initiative to celebrate the people who are making a difference. “I think the general population has to see what we’re doing in agriculture and be aware of all the things we’re doing in agriculture to have a safe food system with all the innovations going on in agriculture,” he says.

Brekkas says through the OpenAg purpose, UPL is committed to being a catalyst for transformative change through new partnerships and innovation.  He says they’re excited to partner with other like-minded organizations to recognize the innovators who are making a difference throughout the entire food chain.

He tells Brownfield in addition to recognizing the contributions that each winner has made, UPL also is giving back. “We’re also going to contribute a $1,000 donation on behalf of the winner to a food bank in their area,” he says.  “That is really about supporting and impacting the communities we serve.”

Nominations are currently being accepted at www.alliesforagriculture.com and winners will be announced on a bimonthly basis beginning this July.
