Planting progress varies across Iowa

Some parts of Iowa have seen better planting production than others.

Central Iowa farmer Lee Tesdell says getting into his fields in northern Polk County has been a challenge. “The planter is in the shed up the road,” he said. “And I haven’t seen any neighbors out.”

But, southwest Iowa farmer Duane Aistrope says his family recently had a good planting window. “About a third done on beans and just about half on corn,” Aistrope said.

He tells Brownfield several of his neighbors have finished. “A lot of guys are done on corn and some guys are all done on beans,” Aistrope said. “A lot of your bigger farmers went after it early.”

Aistrope’s farm is located near Randolph in northern Fremont County.
