Barnett joins Brownfield as Anchor/Reporter
Jefferson City, Mo. (April 26, 2022) – Brownfield Ag News is pleased to announce Brent Barnett has joined the Brownfield team as Anchor/Reporter. He is based in Pella, Iowa.
“Brent comes to Brownfield with a passion for ag broadcasting and great journalism,” says Cyndi Young, Director of Brownfield & Ag Operations. “His integrity and enthusiasm along with a diverse skill set make him the perfect addition to the Brownfield team of farm broadcasters.”
A northwest Missouri native, Brent graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Media from Northwest Missouri State University in 2015.
After completing his collegiate studies, Brent worked as a News Anchor/Reporter and Morning Host for KMA radio in Shenandoah, Iowa for five years. During his time at KMA, he was recognized by the Iowa Broadcast News Association as a first-place winner for the organization’s “In-Depth Series” in 2018. Brent also covered regional agriculture news and anchored live daily commodity market reports at KMA.
In June 2020, Brent became the Field Editor for the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network in Des Moines where he solely covered agriculture both on-air and online. While working for IARN, Brent received the Editor’s Choice for Exceptional Merit award from the NAFB News Service at the 2021 NAFB Convention in Kansas City. He also helped contribute to the company’s video production and administered its digital channels.
“Brownfield has a storied history as the largest and one of the oldest agricultural news radio networks in the country,” Brent said, “and I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to join the Brownfield team.”
Brent currently resides in Pella, Iowa with his wife Regan, daughter Quinn, and son Harlan. His hobbies include family time outdoors, bow hunting whitetails and turkeys, fishing, playing golf, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.
