A wet pattern ahead for the Heartland; a wide-range of temperatures

In the West, hot weather is returning across the Desert Southwest, where Tuesday’s high temperatures could locally reach or exceed 100°F.  Meanwhile, a new Pacific storm system is delivering scattered rain and snow showers across the Northwest, where below-normal temperatures persist.

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures along the Pacific Coast and across the North, while warmer-than-normal weather will dominate the southern half of the U.S.
