Farmer: input challenges continue in unexpected ways

Logistical challenges continue to plague farmers this planting season.

Southwest Indiana farmer Mark Seib says he’s already experiencing delays accessing chemicals.

“We’re also hearing some chemical companies can’t get lids for the jugs,” he says. “The people that manufacture the lids for the jugs can’t get the plastic. They have the chemical and it’s ready to be put in the jug, but they can’t get the cap to be able to finish the job and ship it out.”

And, he tells Brownfield, “it’s getting to be quite a concern of how much more of this is going to affect us on being able to get our products timewise. It’s starting to show up in rural America pretty big.”

Seib raises corn and soybeans in Posey County.
