Nutrien joins USFRA-led effort to advance sustainability efforts

The world’s largest provider of crop inputs and services says it’s partnering in an industry-wide effort to create resilient and climate-smart food systems.

Nutrien Ag Solutions recently announced it’s joining the Decade of Ag, an effort that’s led by U.S. Farmers and Ranchers in Action (USFRA).

Erin Fitzgerald is the CEO with USFRA. “They’re really advancing on making sure they’re looking at carbon and nitrogen performance.  They’ve been a genuine supporter of farmers and by endorsing, they’re signaling their commitment to work with farmers but also to work with other leaders along the value chain when it comes to climate change.”

She tells Brownfield the movement has received more than 150 endorsements from farmers, companies and financial institutions. “Putting their strengths to work on a common vision and then signaling they’re even willing to work with their competitor because this is such an important topic.  They’re willing to work with their colleagues along the value chain.”

By 2030, Nutrien says it’s committed to create systemic changes and lead the next wave agricultural evolution through sustainable acres, reducing emissions, enhancing innovation and inclusion, scaling a carbon program and investing in low-carbon fertilizer.
