College campus event shows opportunities in agriculture

The University of Wisconsin River Falls college Farm Bureau chapter is exposing everyone on campus and the community to the opportunities available in agriculture.  Serenity Hetke is a senior from Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and is the present Campus Farm Bureau chapter president. “This is a great way to meet students where they’re at that possibly have no experience in agriculture and they can just come by and see what agriculture is all about without going far out of their way.”

Along with growing up on the family’s dairy farm, CloverKey Ayrshires, she says the organization has really helped her prepare for a career in agriculture. “Collegiate Farm Bureau has just really set me up for success in the agriculture industry by introducing me to so many people and just giving me the opportunity to network and connect.”

Chancellor Maria Gallo has a master’s degree in crop science and PhD in genetics, and says the campus helps the state’s agriculture grow and thrive through its programs and research. “Today is all about celebrating the positive impact agriculture has on all of us, the innovation taking place in the industry, and the caring for land and animals.”

After a canceled 220 event and a very limited 2021 event, Ag Day on Campus returned to an in-person activity Tuesday at the University of Wisconsin River Falls.
