Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers pleased with E15 announcement
The Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association is thanking President Biden for delivering lower cost fuel options.
Ben Klick, president of the association, says Ohio corn growers have been demonstrating how higher blends of ethanol are a smart choice to lower costs at the pump for months. He says the move to allow summertime sales of E15 is a critical stop gap measure to ensure consumers can use cleaner burning, higher octane fuel during the busy summer driving season.
Executive Director Tadd Nicholson says growers have proven they can meet domestic fuel demand with ethanol.
“At a time when so many are feeling squeezed by high prices, we’ve got an answer available today—one produced right here at home,” he says.
Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio says relying on American farmers for clean, reliable biofuels is a better energy solution than depending on foreign sources. He says the decision will send a signal of certainty to gas stations who sell E15 currently or are considering selling it in the year ahead.
