Michigan ag groups applauding E15 expansion

The Michigan Corn Growers Association is thankful President Biden is extending the use of E15 to lower gas prices.

President Randy Poll says the state’s farmers are ready to support American energy independence with ethanol made in Michigan.  The four active plants in the state produce about 330 million gallons annually.

The organization is also advocating for the passage of the Next Generation Fuels Act to support higher blends of ethanol and provide a permanent fix for E15 access.

Michigan Farm Bureau Industry Relations Specialist Theresa Sisung says domestically sourced biofuels reduce greenhouse gas emissions and equate to taking 18 million cars off the road each year.

Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow, chair of the Senate Ag Committee, is also applauding the announcement, saying the president is taking on Putin’s price hike by tapping into American energy technology with biofuels and lowering costs at the pump.
