Jefferson Elementary School students were delighted on Wednesday as Joe Wieskamp, former Muskie and current player for the National Basketball Association’s San Antonio Spurs, offered them some words of encouragement via the video-sharing platform Cameo during Assessment Week.

“You’re all going to do great,” said Wieskamp in the 35-second video. “[I] just want to encourage you guys to stay focused and try your best.”

Wieskamp also took the opportunity to remind young students of the significance of academics in their future pathway.

“[I] also want to emphasize the importance of your academics and doing well because it will set you up for future success.”

Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) Testing for Grades 3-5 at Jefferson Elementary takes place from April 4th through the 8th.
