Iowa farmer optimistic going into growing season

A southwest Iowa farmer is optimistic going into the growing season.

Adam Bierbaum grows corn and soybeans in Cass County.

“We’re feeling very positive. It’s been a very dry winter, but we’ve got some rain recently. So I think that’s a big positive.”

He tells Brownfield all their fertilizer was applied last fall.

“That’s a sore spot for many farmers right now, fertilizer (and) fertilizer prices. But I think most farmers are sitting pretty good going into this spring, so I think we’re set up to have a very good year.”

Bierbaum chairs the Iowa Corn Growers Association Grassroots and Checkoff Committee.
