Soil and Water Conservation District announces poster contest for K-12 students

2021 Region 2 (4th-6th) Contest winner design: Grace Stout, Sac [SWCD]

The local Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), along with Conservation Districts of Iowa and the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) is seeking participants for its 2022 K-12 Conservation Poster Contest. Any child residing in Muscatine County currently enrolled in a public, private, or home school in kindergarten through 12th grade can participate.

This year’s contest theme is “Healthy Soil: Healthy Life.” Young artists must submit both their poster accompanied by the poster contest entry form to the SWCD office in the county which their school is located by Friday, April 29.

Students will be divided into five divisions based on their grades and judged on the conservation message, visual effectiveness of their work, originality, and universal appeal.

Once the SWCD receives this year’s entries, it will name a winner in each of the five divisions. County winners will have the opportunity to have their poster possibly advance to the regional, state, and national levels of competition.

The Muscatine Soil and Water Conservation District encourages any interested young artists to start working on their posters now.
