Strong world powder prices supporting U.S. markets
A risk management expert says strong milk powder exports have continued to carry dairy markets.
Mike North with ever.ag tells Brownfield Class IV milk prices have recently hit all-time highs which have spilled over to support other dairy classes.
“Powder is strong, skim milk powder is strong, it’s really good for U.S. dairy,” he says.
North says since the beginning of the year, the U.S. has also been a net butter exporter.
“World demand for butter is strong, especially to our northern neighbors here,” he says. “Canada has been buying a lot of U.S. butter.”
The same remains true for cheese, for now.
Brownfield interviewed North during the Professional Dairy Producers business conference.
