United Dairy Industry of Michigan under new leadership

The new CEO for Michigan’s dairy checkoff says she plans to take a fresh look at the state’s largest ag sector.

Dwyer Williams tells Brownfield she wants to find ways to bring cooperatives, processors, and others in the industry together for the greater good of dairy farmers.

“I also want to spend time listening to dairy farmers, and if they’ll have me, I’d love to come to their farms, I’d love to meet their families and understand what they do in their own communities,” she shares.

Williams has spent the past decade working for the national dairy checkoff and says as a champion for dairy, it’s her job to find markets and promote its benefits to consumers.

“I want a new vision of how we look at and understand consumers so that we can find a place in their lives today and in the future,” she says.

The previous CEO, Sharon Toth, served in the position for more than 30 years and is retiring next month.
