Matthew Scott Thomas, 38, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, at funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in Matthew’s honor, to the family in care of his parents, Randy and Kim Thomas.
Matthew was born on February 14, 1984, in Ottumwa, the son of Randy and Kimberly Reese Thomas.
He had worked at The Buckle, Dahl Ford, many years at Applebee’s, and most recently at Hon Allsteel. He graduated from Muscatine High School in 2002 and graduated from Muscatine Community College with an Associates Degree.
Matthew was a generous son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his five nieces and nephew. He enjoyed fishing, tailgating, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs, and spending time in the outdoors. He loved his friends and was a good cook, adding sriracha to everything he created.
Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Randy and Kim Thomas of Muscatine; maternal grandmother, Sharon Lane of Muscatine; two sisters, Kristi Thomas and Lindsay Thomas, both of Muscatine; nieces and nephew, Rainee, Zerick, Laila, Kami, Pieper, and Daphne; and many wonderful friends.
He is preceded to death by his infant sister, Angela; paternal grandparents; and maternal grandfather.
