2022 Illinois Performance Tested Bull Sale reaches third highest sale average in history

The 2022 Illinois Performance Tested Bull Sale held during the Illinois Beef Expo averaged $4,372 on 46 lots, the third highest average in the sale’s history.

A yearling Angus bull consigned by Murphey’s Genetics of Illiopolis took the top spot, selling for $8500 to Lukack Cattle Company of Streator. Two bulls sold for $7000 each; one consigned by Kramer Farms of Farina sold to Thomas Downey of Putnam, the other consigned by Callan Farms went to Joe Hampton of Windsor.

The annual sale has been going on for 54 years for a combined total of 4,905 bulls sold, valued at more than $9 million. The highest sale average of $4,538 on 52 lots was reached in 2015, with the second highest of $4,396 on 34 lots achieved in 2021.
