Charles William ‘Bill’ Reifert Sr., 80, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Trinity – Rock Island Hospital.
Per Bill’s wishes there will be no services at this time and his body has been cremated. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice, in Bill’s honor. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Bill was born on November 30, 1941, in Muscatine, the son of Glenn D. and Viola Herlein Reifert. He married Eve Smith on July 31, 1961, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Bill graduated from Muscatine High School in 1959. He earned a baseball scholarship and played for the University of Iowa. Bill was offered a professional baseball contract but declined the offer to go home and marry the love of his life. He then worked at Hon Industries as a Senior Industrial Engineer for 35 years before retiring in 1996.
Those left to honor Bill include his wife of 60 years, Eve; four children, Jody (Steve) Noetzel, Will Reifert Jr., Kris (Don) LeMaster, and Dan (Yvonne) Reifert; eight grandchildren, Matt (Kara) Noetzel, Emily Noetzel, Ben (Emily) Noetzel, Sami (Pat) Mura, Zack (Rachael) Miller, Alex Reifert, and Jacob Reifert; eight great grandchildren, Tracen Noetzel, Dewey Noetzel, Ruthie Noetzel, Charlie Noetzel, Rex Noetzel, Ellie Roto, Hailey Mura, Rowan Miller, and one on the way; brothers, Ron (Nancy) Reifert and Rick (Lori) Reifert; and sisters in law, Charlotte Esmoil and Ann Reifert.
He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Amy Hope Reifert; brothers, LaVerne (Hoolie) Reifert, Jerry (Pete) Reifert, Ed Reifert, and Jim Reifert; sisters, Wilma Irwin and Jean Patterson; sister-in-law, Mattie Reifert; and brothers-in-law, Kuehl Irwin and Don Patterson.
