UPDATED: Muscatine City Council to vote March 3 on animal regulation ordinance changes

UPDATED: The Muscatine City Council plans to vote on changes to the city’s animal regulation ordinance at their meeting on March 3.

The Muscatine City Council reviewed changes to an amended ordinance revising portions of Title 6, Chapter 8, of the Code of the City of Muscatine during Thursday’s regular meeting in the Council Chambers at Muscatine City Hall.

The first reading of an ordinance amending Title 6, Chapter 8, of the Code of the City of Muscatine regarding Animal Regulations was heard during the Feb. 3 Council meeting with council members requesting several changes to the ordinance language. The second reading contained those changes referenced by council members and members of the public was adopted on Feb. 17.

The Council will also considered an ordinance revising Title 1, Chapter 2, Section 14 of the Code of the City of Muscatine regarding standard penalties. The revision will align City Code with Iowa code for penalties.

City staff will also be asking the Council to set a Public Hearing for March 3 on the Maximum Tax Levy for the Fiscal Year 2022/2023 Budget. This is the first of two Public Hearings that need to be held prior to the FY 22-23 budget being adopted and filed with Muscatine County in late March.
