USGC sets course for future growth

The U.S. Grains Council is setting priority areas for trade in the year ahead at their annual meeting this week.

Chairman and Minnesota farmer Chad Willis tells Brownfield while 2021 was a record year for many exports, there’s still room to grow, like with E-10 into Mexico.

“Being a border country like that, that’s just easy pickings if you can get it done but there’s a lot of hoops to jump through to get it there,” he says.

Each overseas office of the council this week is outlining its focus for commodities and starting this year a new one will open in India.

“I was planning on traveling there in January but due to COVID we had to cancel that trip,” he shares.

Willis adds container shortages and delays at ports have continued to be an issue across the U.S. and creative solutions are also being crafted to help move grain exports.
