Hemp moves out of MDARD

A new executive order from Governor Gretchen Whitmer is moving the oversight of industrial hemp in Michigan.

Currently housed in the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the commodity will now be overseen by the Cannabis Regulatory Agency.

The department previously regulated the processing, distribution, and sale of industrial hemp in the state and the governor says the consolidation will allow for more efficient administration and regulation of the industry.
