Half of National Milk Quality Awards granted to MMPA members

The Michigan Milk Producers Association took home nearly half of the National Mastitis Council’s National Dairy Quality Awards.

Director of member services Dean Letter with MMPA tells Brownfield farms are recognized for producing quality milk along with their antibiotic stewardship and animal care.

“Our membership has a culture of quality to begin with and we do like to recognize the hard work that goes into producing quality milk day in and day out,” he shares.

The cooperative vets farms that are fitting for recognition and incentivizes quality milk.

LetterQAwards2 “We have paid out millions of dollars per year, this past year I believe we paid out a little more than $23 million in quality premiums,” he explains.

Member farms earned 21 of the 47 national awards.  Six dairies nationwide earned a Platinum Award, including Blue Star Dairy Middleton LLC of Middleton, Wisconsin; Country Aire Farms of Kaukauna, Wisconsin; Crandall Dairy Farms LLC of Battle Creek, Michigan; Dolph Dairy LLC in Lake Mills, Wisconsin; Tollgate Holsteins from Ancramdale, New York; and University of Wisconsin Marshfield Agricultural Research Station, in Stratford, Wisconsin.
