A milder pattern to cover much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for above-normal temperatures from the Pacific Coast to the Plains, while colder-than-normal conditions will prevail in the western Gulf Coast region and east of the Mississippi River.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation will cover the entire country, with the greatest likelihood of drier-than-normal weather affecting the West, Southeast, and central Plains.
