Last comment day on EPA Clean Water Act rulemaking

Today is the last day to comment on the EPA’s efforts to rewrite Clean Water Act rules.

The American Farm Bureau is urging farmers to tell the EPA to keep the term “navigable” in any new rule they write.

Meanwhile, a group of Republican U.S. lawmakers has asked leaders of the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers to suspend the rulemaking process to redefine the scope of waters protected under the Clean Water Act, specifically Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS), until the U.S. Supreme Court rules on a pending case.

They say rulemaking before that will “only deepen uncertainty within the regulated community” which includes farmers.
