Supply chain restraints refining pork business

The National Pork Producers Council says the industry has not been immune to transportation woes clogging the supply chain.

Cody McKinley tells Brownfield between shipping backlogs, vaccine mandates at land borders to a lack of labor, just-in-time deliveries are turning into an approach of the past.

“All of this has affected the day-to-day operation and receiving goods and services to make sure we have all of the needs met to take care of our animals,” he says.

McKinley says pork producers have continued to refine their business throughout the process.

“For the most part, we’ve heard from producers that things have been ok,” he shares.

Brownfield interviewed McKinley during this week’s Wisconsin Pork Association’s annual meeting and Wisconsin Corn Soy Expo.
