Record large U.S. soybean crush in December

More U.S. soybeans were crushed during December 2021 than any other month on record.

The USDA says 198 million bushels of beans were crushed last December, up 7 million from November and 5 million from December 2020.

The previous record was set in October 2021.

Crush margins are strong due to tight interior soybean supplies, along with solid food and fuel demand for vegetable oils and the growing likelihood of increased exports of U.S. soybean meal and soybean oil due to declining production estimates for Argentina, the world’s biggest exporter of soybean products.

The USDA’s next set of supply and demand estimates is out February 9th.
