Reality check on animal-free ‘milk’
A dairy chemist says some start-up companies claim they can produce animal-free ‘milk’ but that is not likely.
Dr. John Lucey with the University of Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research says some startup companies are raising money and applying for patents to replicate, if they can, milk proteins but do it in a lab from a yeast or a bacteria so they can say it’s animal free or dairy free.
