Bernard C. Roth, 86, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Addington Place of Muscatine, due to complications of ALS.
Private family services will be held. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bernard’s name to Faith United Church of Christ, First Presbyterian Church, or Research ALS. The Ralph J. Bernard was born on October 17, 1935, in Iowa City, son of Adam and Gertrude Choate Roth. He married Sandra Toussaint on August 23, 1957.
He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1954, Muscatine Junior College in 1956, and Augustana College in 1958. He worked for Muscatine General Hospital, as the Administrator of Finance, for 32 years. He received an award from National Hospital Financial Management Administrators and served on the board for Red Cross.
Bernard was a member of Faith United Church of Christ. He volunteered for ‘Meals on Wheels’. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and Ram Rodders coffee club. He found delight watching sports and coaching Cub Scouts Softball.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Toussaint Roth; three children, Susan Willis and husband, Jerry, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Constance Cunningham and husband, Michael, of Morton Grove, Illinois, and Randy Roth of Muscatine; one grandson, Tyler Willis and wife, Jing Ouyang, of Brooklyn, New York; one brother, Dennis Roth and wife, Beth, of Hollywood, Maryland; special friends, Tom Hendricks, and Ed Rocca and our thoughtful caring neighbors; niece, Laurie and Rick Carpenter, of Illinois City, Illinois; and several special nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Joyce Feldman; and brother-in-law, John Feldman.
