A much colder pattern ahead for the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal temperatures across much of the southern and western U.S., while cooler-than-normal conditions will cover areas from the upper Midwest into the middle and northern Atlantic States.

Meanwhile, drier-than-normal weather across much of the Pacific Coast States, Great Basin, Four Corners region, central and southern Plains, and Ohio Valley should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in New England, the northern Plains and upper Midwest, and from southern Texas to the southern Atlantic Coast.
