The number of new cases of COVID-19 continues to rapidly increase, driven primarily by the omicron variant, with 227 new cases and positive test rate of 18 percent in Muscatine County over the last seven days.
The State of Iowa Public Health dashboard on Friday also reported the 120th death of a Muscatine resident from the coronavirus since the pandemic began nearly two years ago.
Four patients are currently hospitalized at Trinity Muscatine for COVID-19, with one patient admitted to intensive care.
Over the past seven days across Iowa, there have been 24,935 new cases, 18 percent of tests have been positive, and 161 deaths for a total of 8,019.
898 people are currently in Iowa hospitals, with 176 in ICU. 72.5 percent of those in the hospital are not vaccinated, and 81.3 percent of ICU patients.
In Muscatine County, 68.2 percent of the 12+ population is fully vaccinated and 74.4 percent have had at least one dose.
70.6 percent of adults are fully vaccinated and 74.6 percent of Iowa resident 12 and older are at least partially vaccinated.
