UPDATED: Dangerous wind chills this morning and again tonight

Dangerously cold wind chills are expected this morning and again tonight into Friday morning. Wind chills as low as negative 25 degrees are possible, according to the Quad Cities office of the National Weather Service.

In Muscatine, the air temperature was 1° at 6 a.m. with a wind chill of -16°.

If you must go outside for any duration in these frigid conditions, be sure to bundle up. Dress in layers and wear a hat, gloves, and a face mask. Frostbite could occur on any exposed skin in under 30 minutes.

Looking ahead, the Arctic air mass will stay over us for the most part in the next seven days, with temperatures only moving above freezing on Saturday and then not again until the middle of next week.
