Eight Illinois soybean farmers will serve on the American Soybean Association Board in 2022.

Daryl Cates of Columbia was elected Vice President, which puts him in line to serve as President in 2023. He tells Brownfield a personal goal in this new role is to keep communication open and flowing.

“Between all the soy family, with the United Soybean Board and with our state affiliates. I’ve learned through my years it seems that if there is a breakdown in communication, that is when things start going south and one of my major goals is to keep communication strong.”

Stan Born of Mohomet was also elected to the executive committee as an at-large member. Roberta Simpson-Dolbeare of Nebo will serve her first of a nine-year director term with David Droste of Nashville retiring from the board.

Other Illinois farmers serving the ASA board in 2022 include Jered Hooker of Clinton, Ron Moore of Roseville, Bill Raben of Ridgeway, Rob Shaffer of El Paso, and Bill Wykes of Yorkville.
