EPA extends pesticide applicator certification plan deadline

EPA has extended the deadline for state and federal pesticide applicator certification plans.

The agency points to impacts of the pandemic and the complexity of plans as reasons for pushing the date to submit proposals to November 4th, 2022.

A final rule established in 2017 set stronger standards for people who apply restricted use pesticides and required that states, territories, tribes, and federal agencies with existing certification plans come into compliance with the updated standards.

EPA is encouraging all stakeholders to submit comments during the deadline extension.
