The newly elected president of the American Agri-Women hopes to execute her vision for a new leadership program in 2022.

Heather Hampton-Knodle of Filmore, Illinois tells Brownfield the program will have a few different tracks starting with non-profit leadership to help members be involved in filling community needs.

“How can we help people be aware of what’s out there and then also be an effective leader in that process? It is more than just providing a resource list; it is also providing skill building.”

She says another track would focus on policy and production to help members who are in different seasons of their farming careers as well as those on the agribusiness side who don’t have a lot of production experience.

“We want to provide them with that field trip, home stay, hands-on experience at the farm level in conjunction with personal development and leadership skill-building.”

Hampton-Knodle says she will be looking to their committee members to help curate the best speakers, workshops, and opportunities for women in agriculture through this leadership program.
